#GivesBack21: Nature Point department De Wielewaal

What is Klean Kanteen Gives Back?

With Klean Kanteen Gives Back we not only give long-term support to our structural partners, but also an annual grant under the name "Klean Kanteen Gives Back" to projects of local nature and environmental organizations. In this way we want to make our involvement with 1% for the Planet tangible at a local level by giving 1% of our turnover back to nature.

Anyone can propose a project and ultimately it is decided collectively who will receive the grant. In 2021, an amount of €6000 was awarded via Klean Kanteen Gives Back to four environmental organisations in Belgium and the Netherlands, including Natuurpunt department De Wielewaal.

Nature Point department De Wielewaal

The Natuurpunt department De Wielewaal from the Lier region was one of the selected projects with their "Big Clean-up Action" via our Klean Kanteen Gives Back campaign. Chairman Marc Vermylen of Natuurpunt was delighted with this contribution: "This is a recognition of our commitment to more and better nature around in the Kleine Netevallei (Lier Kessel, Ranst, Zandhoven).

These additional resources will be used to clear recently purchased plots of land on the Bollaakdijk in Ranst, which contained illegal ponds, sheds, fences, barbed wire and litter. This will allow the plots to be returned to nature.

The clean-up action contributes to a diverse bird population in the region, with the Bittern, Woodcock, Roe Deer and perhaps the Shoveler returning. The Bluethroat, Corncrake and Burbot have already been spotted in the area.
