Since the beginning, the pursuit of good has been at the forefront of everything we do at Klean Kanteen. We work hard to raise awareness about unnecessary waste and the damaging impact of disposables and plastics on our environment.

We’ve seen the conversation around sustainability evolve over the years and have found that individuals and businesses can make a positive impact by leading by example. Today, we’re excited to announce the next step in our quest to lead by example by partnering with Climate Neutral to take big steps to minimize our footprint from February 2020.

Climate Neutral verifies through an independent certification program that a company has achieved carbon neutrality for their entire greenhouse gas footprint through a combination of emissions reductions and offsets .

Like many consumer products companies, raw materials, manufacturing, and transportation are the largest sources of emissions for us. We are reducing these emissions by encouraging our manufacturing partners to use renewable energy. Additionally, we are reducing packaging, increasing the percentage of recycled content in packaging, and our team continues to analyze our operations and plan for future emissions reductions.

We know that reducing emissions is the single most important action to address climate change. While offsets are not a strategy in themselves, purchasing offsets is a meaningful action we can take immediately while we work on emissions reductions that will take longer.

As long as purchasing offsets is part of Klean's climate strategy, we will ensure that our investments meet the criteria for quality offsets: real, permanent, quantifiable, verifiable, enforceable, and additional; and verified by an independent third party.
