#GivesBack 23: you can vote for these 14 projects.

Every year we give local projects the chance to get a financial boost. We find local initiatives very important. That is why we like to support them. In the previous weeks, these initiatives were given the chance to submit a project. And we announce these projects in this way. Read below which projects have a chance to win the grant. And vote for your favorite project!

Greentown

GreenTown wants to see a tree grow in every Flemish garden. Together with the owners, we make private gardens more ecological by promoting and facilitating the planting of trees. In doing so, we ensure an accessible process, from tree selection to planting and aftercare.

ClimateContact

KlimaatContact wants people to choose a climate-friendly society. We do this by training climate coaches and supporting them in giving a 6-part workshop series. With this project we want to develop a new version of our KlimaatContact workshop series.

Within the new workshop series, the footprint actions will be pushed to the background and we will focus on climate psychology: what does the awareness of a climate 'crisis' do to you as a person? How can you still relate to the world around you? How do you continue to cherish (active) hope for the future? What positive story can we write together? How do you get your environment to join you in this story?

Field of view

Blikveld is a professional association for landscape and garden architecture. There is a growing awareness that urgent interventions are needed to make our living environment more sustainable.

Green spaces are a crucial link in this and can be designed in such a way that they contribute to ecological coherence, biodiversity, social sustainability and climate neutrality. Landscape architects are designers of these green spaces and work on various scales.

Gardens, parks or squares, recreational areas, play forests or rural stream valleys, but also green connections on industrial estates and urban green climate axes are part of their work area. Through creative, investigative and solution-oriented processes, the landscape architect creates a good balance between aesthetics and functionality, always with sustainability as a starting point and basic attitude.

Country estate Ostend

Everyone is happy with a beautiful bunch of flowers! Together with a group of volunteers and social organizations, Buitengoed is creating an organic self-pick flower field, without pesticides or fertilizers.

This not only provides a place where people can relax, but also adds value to biodiversity in the field and saves many transport kilometers associated with the traditional flower and plant industry, where flowers are often flown in from distant countries.

Bird Protection Flanders

Bird Protection Flanders (VBV) works as an umbrella organisation together with the 10 recognised Flemish Shelters for Wild Animals (VOC). These VOCs annually provide shelter for more than 50,000 distressed wild animals, which they release back into the wild after rehabilitation.

The vast majority of the work is done by the more than 1,200 volunteers who are ready every day to help without pay with feeding the animals, caring for them, cleaning the cages, etc.

VBV wants to use the financial support from Klean Kanteen to work with the VOC employees to develop a sound guidance programme for the volunteers so that the volunteers can perform their tasks better and that they will have more of a desire to come and help more often.

Garden of Breath and Food

The Garden of Breath and Food is a food forest in the making. It will be a place where you can enjoy the little things, where you can relax and nature comes back to life. It will be a garden where you can breathe and eat with others.

The area is shaped by wooded edges, flower meadows, a pond, barefoot and shod foot paths, an arena (for yoga and silent culture), insect hotels, nesting boxes, ... and a vegetable garden for forgotten vegetables. Fruit and nut trees form the top layer, berry bushes and the like provide the base layer.

Wild animals in need - VOC Brasschaat / Kapellen

VOC Brasschaat-Kappellen wants to renew the outdoor cages by using more sustainable and environmentally hygienic materials. The current environmental and hygiene conditions require a more maintainable and safer sustainable solution.

A more easily modulated system is also needed to place the animals in an environment that is as stress-free as possible for them (darkening, adapted size, hiding places, etc.)

Nature Point Houthalen-Helchteren

On a recently purchased plot of land, we are working on demolishing an old weekend house. Our dream is to completely demolish this weekend house, and to clear away all the fences, gates and other debris, so that we can give the land back to nature, and eventually develop a walking path.
